Grand I'm really looking forward to this. I like the note about always waiting- there is a wonderful play Journey's End about World War One which makes just the same point- they spend all their time waiting to go over the top. It'd be interesting to see what he ommitted as well- and included for his men- the contrast would be fascinating in part because of what it reveals about his relationship with the soldiers that served under him. That can often be a very important relationship - the relationship within an army- that solidarity with someone and the sense that they know things that can't be communicated outside of the army is something I find fascinating. Looking forward to the next installment.
